Reiki Level 1

Nature-focused Reiki Level 1 (stock photo)

Usui Reiki Level 1 for self-healing is the first stage of the Reiki training and offers a firm foundation in the principles of Reiki, its history, how to begin to connect to Reiki and teaches Reiki’s self-healing techniques. It’s usually taught over two days with two people, usually over two weeks (e.g. 2 consecutive Saturdays). I find this structure allows Reiki students time to practice what they have learnt in day one over the week, and will then arrive ready to deepen that practical experience on the second and final day. Students receive four attunements/transmissions, two on each day, (attunements are fully explained on the day with full details here,) and students receive their Reiki 1 manual/handbook and certificate at the end of the second day.

When I teach Reiki I incorporate my years of experience studying and practising in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition as well as from training as a nature-centred shamanic reiki drum practitioner, so my manuals and teaching include exercises and information about deepening our sense of wholeness and interconnectedness. This isn’t traditionally taught as in depth as this in Reiki 1, but I believe it creates stronger and deeper foundations for the Reiki practitioner, especially for those students who go on to train with me to Level 2, Shamanic Reiki Drum and beyond.

When you begin your Reiki journey it can sometimes bring up or increases your awareness of what needs attention within you and around you for your own healing journey. Therefore we usually allow 21 days between Reiki 1 and the Reiki 2 practitioner training. This gives you time to process the teachings, practice the techniques and discover your own self-healing path before moving on to professional practitioner level.

At the moment Reiki 1 is taught in a lovely therapy space at a private address in Worcester, WR4, in small groups of 2 or 3 people. The days usually start at 10.30am and runs up to between 4-5pm, allowing for flexibility.

Students will need to bring a packed lunch, but hot drinks and snacks are provided. If you would like to lie down during meditation then please bring a yoga mat, pillow and blanket etc.
