The Gift of Presence

Yet one of the most meaningful gifts we can offer, to ourselves and to another, is the gift of presence. Not more physical presents and buying more stuff and clutter usually for the sake of it, but our mental, physical and spiritual presence; our company, our attention, fully and whole-heartedly.

Nature-focused Reiki, Shamanism & Our Lost Western Shamanic Lineage

Western, indigenous shamanism and the knowledge of how to commune with energy, spirits and plants, ways of healing and divination would have been held by the wise men and women of our communities. In old English the 5000 year old word for ‘wise’ was Wicca (male) or Wicce (female) (pronounced ‘witcher’), and is where the origin of the word ‘witch’ comes from, just meaning ‘wise’ without any negative connotation. These original wise men and women were also called ‘cunning folk’ – from the original old meaning of ‘cunning’ which means ‘knowledge’ and ‘to know’ and many of them would have practiced ‘hands on healing’ as part of their services.

Samhain: Nature’s teaching on transformation and rebirth

Because death is still very much a taboo in the western world, we can miss some of the significance of Samhain and therefore miss the opportunity to explore our own fears, feelings, emotions and concepts around death. When we talk of the ‘veil thinning’ and ancestral worship, we think of those who have gone before us, but we don’t tend to use it as an opportunity for contemplating our own mortality, the cycle of life or to learn the mysteries by examining natures displays.

Intuitive Business Guidance: Peeling the Layers of Motivation & Redefining ‘Success’

We create something in the world when our inspiration, intention and motivation meets our expectations, our preparation and our actions are in accord with our intentions and motivations. When these are all in alignment with one another we make things happen, which we might then decide or judge as either ‘successful’ or ‘unsuccessful’. ‘Success’ itself is very subjective. It will often be … Continue reading Intuitive Business Guidance: Peeling the Layers of Motivation & Redefining ‘Success’

Reiki Is…

This is a poem/short audio guided meditation practice that I wrote for my Reiki teaching sessions. It is intended to help Reiki students connect to the essence of Reiki as universal lifeforce energy - also known as prana/chi/source - the formless, energetic essence of everything, which underlies the practice of Reiki.

Honouring the Waning: The Sense of Loss at Summer’s Peak

Since the summer solstice, I’ve noticed a quiet pull inside me, what could be called a kind of seasonal sadness. If we were in the depths of winter, I might have called this Seasonal Affective Disorder but I realise, this isn’t a ‘disorder’ at all. To feel a sense of sadness or even what you might call a subtle grief, at the turning of the wheel of the year, feels right, appropriate and perfectly natural. If we tune in closely enough, remembering we are the Earth, the elements and the seasons, we might feel as if part of us is turning with the Earth, waning like the Sun, pulling away, already slowly letting go.

Intuitive Business Guidance

Fewer people than ever are seeing creator-made content on social media and engagement is down across the board. This statistically affects accounts with a much larger number of followers, as small businesses and smaller accounts can have the same or better ratio of ‘likes to followers’. What this shows us that less is more, and a more authentic online presence these days is about quality over quantity – quality of followers, posts and engagement over purely the numbers game. Chasing algorithms and trying to mimick popular post/reel formats and performing to try to get noticed is exhausting and unnecessary, it’s a waste of energy and quickly leads to burnout or feeling disheartened. Meeting and embodying the spirit/energy of your business/offerings, and being visible in a way that is comfortable for you can help to attract clients who match or are looking for the energy of what you offer. It’s is far more authentic and sustainable way of engaging online. Utilising Reiki Drum Journeying techniques and my experience in marketing, I can help you see any elements within your offering/business and online presence that you may have missed and areas that can be brought into greater alignment with the spirit/energy of your business and what you are offering.

The Oak & Holly Queens: A Reimagining of a Summer Solstice Offering Ritual

This is a reimagining of the traditional tale of the battle of the Oak and Holly Kings. In British folklore, particularly neo-pagan mythology, the Oak King and Holly King are symbolic figures who rule over the waxing and waning halves of the year. Even though the ‘battle’ between the kings is obviously symbolic and both are interconnected, I felt the symbolism of battling Kings, given the currently climate and world events, no longer resonated, so I decided to reimagine the tale as a meeting of two sister Queens.

Summer Solstice: The Unfolding of Potential

At this turning point in the wheel of the year, the Summer Solstice invites us into fullness. The sun, at its highest and brightest, lingers in the sky, bathing everything in light. It’s a moment of pause, of ripening, of gratitude for all that’s come before, of nature’s radiant abundance. It’s a time for celebrating all we’ve achieved so far, as nature continues reaching its full potential over the next six weeks until the harvests seasons begin. Then everything slows down and we’ll be we’ll be acutely aware of the shortening days by then. We can tap into the energy of the Summer Solstice as an energy of becoming rather than a time of more doing.
